It about the customer – lets keep it in mind
I was out getting some errands done and a couple of things struck me about how companies and their culture devalue a person.
First one was when I stopped in to the local McDonald’s for a breakfast of champions – a sausage with egg McMuffin. Hey, my dietician said this was one of three things I can eat at McDonalds. At the time I was on my smart phone googling for a weather report and all of a sudden there was McDonalds all over the screen trying to sell me something. I did not log in to their Wi-Fi. I have never used MckyyyDs wifi… I understand McDonalds desire to promote specials while I am buying. BUT they did NOT get my permission to intrude. If it had popped up and said “hey we have a promo for you”.. “interested yes or no”… I would not have minded. I was incensed.
So after some excellent service at the auto lube and car wash I went to the bank. As I waited in line I overheard the teller explain that the other teller was out handing out banners and that it was always busy on the first of the month. I am standing in front of the manager’s office as she worked on a report, never looking out in the lobby. I wish she would have managed her staff so that that other teller was present on a known busy day! It would have been special if she had come out of her office and actually helped a customer.
I immediately went back to the office and called the four clients I do monthly check ups with.
I thought I would write this as a reminder to myself and all of use in business……keep the customer first.
Interesting there is nothing about quality of customer service on the Key Bank website…huh.
